“Educating those who serve” is not just the mission of First Command Educational Foundation (FCEF), it’s our reason for existence. FCEF is committed to ensuring individuals, at all stages of their life, have the knowledge and skills to make informed, intelligent decisions about their financial future. FCEF has worked tirelessly to provide and promote education through scholarships and financial readiness education. As U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan informed the Advisory Council on Financial Capability in January 2010, “I think the challenge we face now is that we don’t have a financially literate population.”
Providing financial readiness education (especially at an early age) is very important because many consumers finish school without learning even the basics of money management, such as creating and sticking to a budget. Many individuals later learn these skills through the schools of trial and error and “hard knocks.” We at FCEF understand that one size does not fit all. From educator-developed and -approved classroom material, to online learning and quizzes, we’ve got you covered. We have tools to increase and promote financial know-how for you, your family, and the communities in which you live and work.
