Bob, a highly decorated Command Pilot with more than 5,000 flying hours, 206 combat missions, and over 2,000 civilian flying hours as a pilot and instructor in several aircraft to round out an amazing flying career. Today, he is a Senior Integrated Logistics Specialist for the C/MV-22 Osprey at Bell Helicopter, responsible for site integration and supportability for both the Marines and Air Force operational transitions. Bob’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts from North Texas State University and Master of Science in Operational Management from the University of Arkansas. He has also completed all course work and is working on his dissertation for a Doctorate in Applied Training, Technology, and Development from the University of North Texas. Bob joined FCEF’s board in April 2006.

Paul J. Smith, Lt. Col., USAF (Ret.), Vice-President
Miramar Beach, Florida
After a 26-year career in the Air Force, Paul retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and began his second career as a financial advisor in Montgomery, Ala., with First Command Financial Services. In 1999, Paul was selected to be the Director of Insurance at First Command’s corporate headquarters in Fort Worth. He became a Vice President in the same position in 2000. In 2002, Paul retired as the Director of Agent Development and traveled throughout the field as a motivational speaker and field agent ambassador. Paul’s education includes a B.A. degree from Florida State University in History/International Affairs, an M.S. degree from the University of Arkansas in Operations Management, and he is a graduate of the Air War College. In 2007, Paul and his wife, Susan, created a scholarship endowment with FCEF in memory of their son Jay. For more information on this endowment, click here. Michael F. Morrison, CPA, Treasurer
CFO and Executive Vice President, First Command Financial Services
Arlington, Texas
Mike started in bank analysis and management in 1978 with Texas American Bancshares, held the position of Senior Vice President Financial Reporting and Planning, and was responsible for all public and internal reporting and planning for this $6 billion organization. Mike began his career with First Command Financial Services in May 1995 as an accountant. Over his tenure, he has been promoted numerous times. In January 2007 he was promoted to his current position of Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Finance, Administrative and Banking Services. Mike joined FCEF’s Board of Directors in June 2007.


Lori Sidrony, CFP®, Secretary
Senior Vice President of Product Management and the Customer Service Center, First Command Financial Services
Fort Worth, Texas
Lori Sidrony joined First Command Financial Services in December 2007, and is currently serving as Senior Vice President of Product Management and the Customer Service Center. Her teams focus on the research and analysis of investments, insurance, and annuity products, and provide training and support to First Command Advisors and clients on a multitude of issues. Lori is also responsible for the development and maintenance of all business partner relationships and for addressing the strategic challenges to First Command’s overall business operations. Previously, she served as Senior Manager of Wealth Management Services for 1st Global in Dallas. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington and an Executive MBA from the SMU Cox School of Business in Dallas. She holds series 7, 63, and 24 securities licenses, as well as a Texas Group 1 Insurance License and the CFP® certification. Lori joined the FCEF board in January 2014.



Ron Huff, Col., USAF (Ret.)
Fort Worth, Texas
Ron retired from First Command Financial Services after a 16-year career on January 1, 2010. During that time Ron served as a financial advisor, district advisor in two offices (Colorado Springs and Denver, Colo.), regional advisor, and Vice President and Director, Advisor Operations-Midwest Division. Ron joined First Command in June 1994 following his 28-year career in the United States Air Force, having retired as Vice Commander, 20th Air Force. Following initial assignments as an intelligence officer and a tour in Southeast Asia, Ron spent most of his Air Force career in the intercontinental ballistic missile career field, where he held several command and staff positions, including assignments at the Pentagon and as Wing Commander, 44th Strategic Missile Wing, Ellsworth AFB, S.D. Ron graduated with a B.S. in Social Studies from Ball State University in 1965. He also earned master’s degrees in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in 1978 and International Relations and Strategic Studies from Salve Regina College and the Naval War College in 1986. Ron and his wife Myra currently reside in Fort Worth, Texas, where they enjoy golf, traveling, and spending time with their eight grandchildren. Ron joined FCEF’s board in January 2017.

Chris Kirkpatrick
Senior Business Rental Sales Executive, Enterprise Holdings
Fort Worth, Texas
Chris Kirkpatrick joined Enterprise Holdings in 2002 after graduation from Texas Christian University with a business degree, with a double major in Finance and Marketing. He was quickly promoted in the company, having served in various managerial roles including Area Rental Manager, and was promoted in 2015 to his current position, Senior Business Rental Sales Executive. Today, Chris helps negotiate, create, design, and manage global car and truck rental programs for large companies headquartered in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.  He has been recognized for his achievements in areas of growth, profitability, customer service, training, and development by Enterprise Holdings Executive Management. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children.  He enjoys keeping up with TCU football and St. Louis Cardinal baseball in his spare time.  Chris joined FCEF’s board in January 2016.

Mark Leach
Vice President of Media Relations, First Command Financial Services

Mark began his career at First Command Financial Services in a newly-created job designed to bring professional writing and editing experience to that company’s internal and external communications. In his current position he is focused on increasing brand awareness and reputation in the company’s target markets. Mark’s professional background includes reporting and editing roles at a variety of print publications, including the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Fort Worth Business. Mark is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1983. He is married and has two sons. Mark joined FCEF’s Board of Directors in February 2016.


Tim Marling, CFP®
Vice President of Strategic Planning, First Command Financial Services

Tim Marling is currently the Vice President of Strategic Planning at First Command Financial Services. Prior to joining First Command, he used his expertise in strategy and analytics to support neuroscience medical research at Stanford University, set derivative pricing for energy securities, conduct valuation and strategic assessment for hedge funds and private equity investments, prepare neural network algorithms for fraud prevention, and coordinate financial and marketing analytics for internet commerce and financial services companies. A graduate of Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Neuroscience and the SMU Cox School of Business with a Master of Business Administration degree, Tim is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional. He is known for his critical thinking, analytical insights and strategic vision. In 2014, he was recognized as a “Fort Worth Business Press” 40 Under 40 honoree. Tim and his wife Karrie have two children, a son, Alex, and a daughter, Elizabeth. Tim joined FCEF’s board in January, 2018.


Mark Nielsen, Jr., CFP®
Fort Worth, Texas
Mark recently retired after a 34-year career with First Command Financial Services, most recently in the role of Chief of Staff of Advisor Operations. He worked closely with financial advisors and district advisors to develop sound, client-centered business practices that aligned with their core values. He joined First Command in 1981 as a Financial Advisor following ten years of service in the United States Air Force, where he had served as a T-38 instructor pilot, an aircraft commander in the KC-135 and a flight safety officer, and attained the rank of captain. A graduate of the University of California with a Bachelor’s degree and the University of Southern California with a Master’s degree, Mark holds Series 6, 63, 65 and 26 securities licenses plus state life and health insurance licenses. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ certificant, and a member of the Financial Planning Association and GAMA International. Nielsen joined FCEF’s Board of Directors in January 2014.

Tish A. Norman, Col., USAF (Ret.)
Monument, Colorado
Colonel Tish A. Norman retired from the U.S. Air Force in August 2013 as the Reserve Advisor to the 24th Air Force Command, Air Force Space Command, Lackland Air Force Base, where she advised the Commander on Cyber Reserve and Total Force policy integration for cyber operation, including development of new reserve cyber units fully integrated with the active duty mission. Tish earned her B.S. degree from the United States Air Force Academy in 1985, an M.S. in Human Resource Management at Troy University-Montgomery in 1995, and an M.S. at Air War College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, in 2005. In Tish’s civilian life, she led teams that developed steel parts for jet engine components and industrial gas turbines as an area manager at Precision Castparts Corp. in Portland, Oregon. The U.S. Air Force activated Tish three times during her career, including a tour of duty as the Commander of the Space Innovation and Development Center at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado. Living in Monument, Colorado, Tish enjoys skiing, yoga, hiking, as well as traveling with her husband, Daniel Norman, and three children. Her son currently serves in the United States Air Force as a Senior Airman. Tish has been a First Command client since 1985. Tish joined FCEF’s board in January 2016.

Offutt_Fred 3-16  

Fred Offutt, Lt. Col., USAF (Ret.), CFP®, ChFC®, CLF®
Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas
Fred enlisted in the United States Air Force in July 1970 and graduated from the USAF Academy in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (and a minor in Physics). He obtained his Master of Arts degree in International Relations from Oklahoma State University in 1980. During his tenure in the USAF, Fred completed Squadron Officers School, Marine Corps Command and Staff, Air Force Command and Staff, as well as Air War College. Fred served in numerous duty locations and instructed fellow pilots in the employment of T-38, AT-38B, A-10 and F-16 aircraft. Fred retired as a Lt. Colonel and Command Pilot with over 4,000 flight hours in fighter type aircraft. Fred joined First Command Financial Services (then USPA&IRA) in May 1996, after retiring from the Air Force. Fred started in the Mildenhall, England, office as a Registered Representative & Agent, and was promoted to District Advisor in January, 1999, for USPA&IRA activities across the United Kingdom. After two years, Fred was transferred to oversee and grow the Wurzburg/Schweinfurt/Bamberg markets in Germany. In 2004, Fred returned to the United States to serve as District Advisor for First Command offices in San Antonio and Houston. Fred has earned the Certified Financial Planner™, Chartered Financial Counselor, and Chartered Leadership Fellow designations. Fred enjoys traveling, swimming, woodworking, and of course, his family (which now includes four perfect grandchildren). Fred is married to Cindy Torrance Offutt of Houston, Texas.  Fred joined FCEF’s Board of Directors in January 2016.


George “Brent” Smith, Col., USAF (Ret.)
Montgomery, Alabama
Brent Smith joins the FCEF board with a broad background in education and the military. Brent’s 30-year Air Force career included flying large aircraft, teaching, program management, and training and evaluation. Following retirement at the rank of Colonel he became Director, Continuing Education and Community Service, at Alabama State University, and he has for 12 years been teaching a high school Aviation and Space Program, also in Alabama. Brent currently holds an Alabama teaching certificate, commercial pilot with multi-engine and instrument ratings, current FAA instructor pilot certification, and master scuba diver certification. He earned his B.A. from Ohio State University and an M.S. from Central Michigan University. Brent’s varied background in management and education greatly enhance the FCEF Board of Directors. He joined FCEF’s board in January 2012.


Vickie L. Coleman, Chief Master Sgt., USAF, (Ret.)
Chief Executive Officer, FCEF
Fort Worth, Texas

A native of West Virginia, Vickie Coleman joined FCEF in March 2005 after completing a 30-year career in the United States Air Force. With a multitude of experience in training, education, curriculum development, and leadership she was well prepared to transition, manage, and expand FCEF program services. Vickie holds degrees in Instructional Technology and Management/Human Resources and has earned numerous awards, honors, and recognition over her lifetime.
